Beautiful park, "LARGEST flat rock in N.C..
It's unfortunate the state has not (been able to?) allocate funds to improve this land - even if it's just to cut some hiking trails and put a trash can at the entrance. The history is rich and fascinating - the amount of exposed granite is impressive. We enjoyed the exploration but only because it was winter and the foliage is wilted. Trails are faint but negotiable, probably not passable in the peak of spring/summer - just wish it was maintained.
Please bring a bag and take your trash with you!
Great place to chill or take the dogs, definitely worth a stop by.
The place was great. But, there isn't a parking lot, so you have to park of to the side
Water shoes recommended and a old bathing suit for playing in the water
Such a beautiful, natural gem. We shot our engagement photos here and could not get over the unique rock formations. It is a great spot for exploring without traveling too far out of Raleigh.
