Interesting to see all the negative reviews about the rude unfriendly lady that works there. I had been going to Mr Mikes for many years since they opened then this lady took over managing and she is unfriendly and rude, I would brace myself when I walked in to sell any books and dare I ask if she has what I'm looking for. I don't go there anymore, I go to the library now. I cannot understand why she is still working there, these reviews claiming the rudeness are spot on.
I'd love to give a five star review because I really do like a good local bookstore. But I'd have to echo the comments of many reviewers here who have mentioned the unfriendliness that is often encountered here. It's happened too frequently to chalk up to "having a bad day", it's an ongoing service issue. It's really a shame because the selection is good and I want to support this type of store. Hoping that Mr. Mike's can turn things around and get a better review in the future.
The rude service is real. I went in to sell a small stack of nonfiction books. I was greeted with "what do you want?" Received no explanation of Mr Mike's buying process, and no recap of what they bought and why. I'd advise to make the trip to Raleigh (Nice Price Books, Reader's Corner) to sell any used books in the future.
Rude rude rude! Was looking for Harry Potter books. Didn’t see any so I dare asked the woman who was working. Said “excuse me”, (then I get a dirty look). “Do you have any HP books”? “NO, WE DONT HAVE ANY HP BOOKS”, said the rude lady who works there. As I’m walking out my 9 year old daughter says “what’s her problem”? For her to notice this says a lot. From the looks of the other reviews it seems to be the norm from her.
Our go to place for used books. The staff is very friendly and knows what books they have. Very clean and not cluttered. Offers coupons from time to time.
